Donation Opportunities
General Operating Fund
Historic Elmwood Pinewood, Inc operations are conducted by our volunteer Board members. You can help off-set operations expenses needed to continue our fund-raising/preservation efforts by donating to the General Operating Fund.
Focused Giving
$1,000 Level - Angel Society
Through the generous donation of past Angel Society members, all angel/lady/cherub monuments in the cemetery have been cleaned/preserved. Those donors challenge others to join the Society and help with the cleaning/preservation of other notable monuments. With a donation at this level, you can choose a monument (subject to approval by cemetery/decedent family), and the rest will be taken care of. You will receive a thank you letter and picture of the cleaned monument. Join this prestigious group today.
$250 Level - Lamb League
Through a donation at this level, you can help with the cleaning/preservation of monuments in memory of our youngest decedents. These touching monuments—stones with a reclining lamb on top—can be seen throughout the cemetery and undoubtedly cause a moment of pause to anyone visiting the cemetery. Be a part of this campaign to highlight the memory of these precious monuments. Simply choose a monument or Historic Elmwood Pinewood, Inc will be happy to choose for you. You will receive a thank you note and picture of your cleaned monument.
Charlie Houck Monument Preservation
Charlie Houck was an animal trainer with the circus. While in Charlotte, his arm was mauled as he was feeding one of the lions; he later contracted an infection and died of his wounds. He was buried in Elmwood cemetery and is considered a local legend. His monument has been damaged over the years, but with this fund-raising effort, it will be repaired/restored so that his memory will forever be part of Charlotte history. With a donation, you help ensure his memory lives on.
Settler’s Monument Reinstallment
During the late 1990’s, a major restoration occurred in Settler’s Cemetery. Following that preservation effort, vandalized/damaged headstones remain in storage. Donate to be part of a second round of preservation to include the reinstallation of those headstones.
